A pictorial report of harvesting pomegranate in Alamout

Every year, in mid autumn, Iranian farmers in the region of Alamout in Qazvin Province of Iran bring in the harvest of pomegranate gardens.

The villages of Anbouh, Lat and Noudeh in Alamout region have the most gardens.

Residents of these villages come together in autumn to harvest pomegranates.

They wear traditional customs and hold a small event to make the activity more attractive.

Some 170 hectares of lands in the mentioned regions are planted with pomegranate and every year 3000 tons of this fruit are harvested.

Iran is the top producer of pomegranate in the world.
